Kelly is a 1990 graduate of Hernando High School in Hernando, Mississippi. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi in 1995 and her Juris Doctor degree from the UM School of Law in 1998. Shortly after receiving her license to practice law in 1998, Kelly went to work with Austin Law Firm, where she has been since that time. Kelly became a shareholder in the firm in 2008.
Though she maintains a general practice, Kelly primarily focuses in the areas of Residential and Commercial Real Estate transactions and acquisitions, including contract drafting, negotiation and closings, wills and estate probate matters, business entity formation, personal injury, adoptions and miscellaneous civil litigation. She is licensed to practice in all Mississippi and Tennessee trial courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi and the Western District of Tennessee.
Her professional memberships include the DeSoto County Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Kelly is a past President (2004-2006) of the DeSoto County Bar Association, a member of the Executive Board of the DeSoto County Bar Association (2006-2008) and a Bar Commission for the Mississippi Bar Association (2008-2011) representing the 17th Circuit Judicial District which includes DeSoto County, Panola County (both 1st and 2nd District), Tallahatchie County (both 1st and 2nd Districts), Tate County, and Yalobusha County (both 1st and 2nd Districts).
Kelly has also been approved as a lecturer before the Northwest Mississippi Association of Realtors and the North Mississippi Homebuilders Association. She further is an Adjunct Faculty member at Northwest Community College where she lectures on Legal Environment (BAD 2413). In conjunction with Austin Law Firm, Kelly has been a member of the Southaven Chamber of Commerce and the Hernando Chamber of Commerce. She is a past member of the Olive Branch Rotary Club.
Kelly is the daughter of another local attorney, William F. Hagan (Hernando). Her mother is Patsy B. Carey who is a real estate broker with Century 21 Heritage Realty in Hernando. A lifelong resident of DeSoto and Tate Counties, Kelly currently resides in Southaven, Misissippi with her husband, Guy Smith. Kelly and Guy have been blessed with three daughters: Meghan, Gabrielle and Reagan.
